Programs
Each program produces free, public work: researched articles, recipes, field observations, interviews, and educational resources.
Ecology & environmental health
North Texas is changing quickly. This program observes and documents local ecology, including creeks, parks, urban green spaces, and gardens, and explains what those observations mean for the health of the people who live nearby.
The work includes field observations, simple environmental measurements, photographs, and plain-language articles.
Healthy aging & nutrition
This program advances public understanding of active aging, senior fitness, and practical nutrition. It translates research on food, physical activity, and health into clear, usable guidance.
The work includes articles on nutrition and food science, walking and everyday fitness, and healthy habits for older adults.
Foodways & cultural heritage
Much traditional knowledge about food, ingredients, and daily life has never been written down in English. This program documents the foodways, history, and traditions of communities underrepresented in English-language sources, and makes that knowledge freely available.
Our first project covers Assam, in northeast India: traditional recipes and ingredients, the food science behind them, and the history and practices around them. The work includes researched articles, recipes, and oral histories recorded with participants' consent.
